Committee Description
Grievance Committee

(meets as needed) Considers and recommends action to the Board of Trustees on complaints arising from patients and third parties. 

Medical Education Committee

(meets 4 times a year at 5:30 p.m.) Advocates, promotes and celebrates undergraduate and graduate medical education in Spokane/Eastern Washington; facilitates integration of local medical providers and health systems with medical education; encourages and supports collaboration among the medical community, civic and business leaders, academic programs/institutions and elected representatives to build, strengthen and expand medical education locally.

Medical Informatics Committee

(meets 4 times per year at 7:00 a.m.) Studies, helps develop and evaluates medical information tools and resources for physicians and other allied healthcare providers; informs and educates those individuals regarding evolution in electronic medical records and other relevant data systems; and educates those individuals on all community information systems developments, and advise regarding physician perspectives on such issues.

Peer Review

(meets as needed) Makes an investigation concerning matters alleged and, if further action is required, refers directly to the Board of Trustees who follows the course of action outlined in the bylaws.

WSMA Alternate Delegate

Delegates to the Washington State Medical Association (WSMA) are allocated to each county based on percentage of WSMA members from each county.  This number fluctuates annually.  Delegates and alternate delegates for Spokane County Medical Society (SCMS) must be members of WSMA and SCMS and be elected to the position.  The delegates are the members of the Board of Trustees who are also members of WSMA.  Alternate delegates are SCMS/WSMA members who have expressed a desired to serve as a delegate and are elected for a term of one year.  The duties of the delegates are to attend the House of Delegates (HOD) meetings of the State Association, participate in the pre-HOD caucus at the SCMS and to represent the members of this Society.
